Black Point Forge is run by Rick & Cheryl Thompson, residents of Columbia, SC. The name “Black Point Forge” comes from the Gaelic name for Rick's family’s ancestral home in Scotland.  Duart Castle, which is on an anvil-shaped peninsula on the isle of Mull.  "Duart" means "Black Point", so named for the color of the rocky promontory. 

Rick has been pursuing smithing for many years, and hung out the "Black Point Forge" sign in 2014.
