The design for one panel in a larger shelf unit.  Free-handing curves isn't my strong suite - but the scrolled steel looks great!

A vine sculpture  "Life Springs Forth"  Taking pictures of 3D sculpture is tough!

A whole bunch of skewers with decorative finials.   The Treble Clef ones seem to be everyone's favorite!

An organic coat rack - about 30 inches across.

A scuplture of Fiddle-head Ferns and marsh grass.   The picture doesn't show it very well, but the surface is rippled and strewn with leaves.

Two views of a Steel Rose.  In progress on the left and finished on the right.  The completed rose has a brass-brushed finish.    These roses are one of our most requested items.

Black Point Forge produces functional and artistic forged steel products.   We use traditional and modern techniques for forming and joining metal.  That is, we work with a forge, hammer and anvil, and also use power tools and welding equipment!

We are happy to discuss custom work with you - small pieces, furniture, railings, tools & fireplace fittings - you name it!

This page is still under construction, as we gather the pictures of works we've produced.   In the meantime, below are a few of the smaller items we've produced recently.

What We Don't Make

Swords - Not for public consumption - yet....   Making a sword is a very specialized set of blacksmithing skills, and there are only a handful of people that are REALLY doing a good job of it, and they are charging an appropriately high fee for their work.   A good sword can take 50-100 hours (or more) to forge the blade, and lots more to heat treat it, finish & polish it, and make the hilt furniture & scabbard.   It takes a specialized set of tools and expertise, especially in the heat treating.   And most people don't want the wait or expense involved with a hand forged blade when they can order a cool-looking sword from ebay.   So, no, I'm not making swords right now.   Ask again later.

Chain Mail armor - Sorry - not going to make a coat of chain mail for anyone.  I don't have the time.  If you don't know what I mean, try making some!   It's fun, but very time consuming!

Smelted Iron - It's pretty cool to do, but.....   No, as long as there's a steel supply company or a junkyard, I don't think I'll need to.
